Peter Moore, the young trombonist pictured here at The Lanercost
Festival in 2007, has won the 2008 BBC Young Musician Of The Year
Competition. A video of his performance can be seen at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/youngmusician/sites/news/
Peter is the youngest ever winner, and the fourth from Chetham’s.
The audience at last year’s Chetham’s concert knew that they had
heard something very special that evening, not only from Peter, but
from all of his amazingly talented friends, and we are anticipating
an equally inspirational concert this year.
With 290 students, aged 8 - 18, Chetham's is the largest specialist
music school in the UK and the only music school based in the north
of England. It provides today's young musicians with the best
opportunities to develop and reach their full potential.
We are delighted to welcome back to the festival the younger
students from Chetham's to give what promises to be another
sparkling and high-quality recital.
